Boat Storage in Needles - Water Spots - Yuck!
Posted by Sandra Buckendorf on Thu, May 06, 2010

We were noting that a lot of our tenants' boats/PWC were showing "water spots" after a day of play on "The River" at Needles, Ca. The water of the Colorado River is extremely hard on the boats' surfaces. Thus we decided to do some research as to what is the best way to get rid of those nasty spots. We found the following techniques came highly recommended for boat cleaning:
- Meguiars #47 Hard Spot Remover - removes the spots (if they are not in the gel coat already) and protects the boat or PWC from future spots because it leaves a slick, repellent coating. However, if the spots are already etched into the gel coat, Meguiars recommends removing those sots with Meguiar's #44 Color Restorer followed by waxing the boat with Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine Wax (this wax was highly recommended on many sites).
- Babe's Spot Solver
- Vinegar & Water - Some recommended using 1 cup vinegar per gallon of water and others said to use 2 cups. All recommended waxing the boat after using it.
- Lime Away - Use one part Lime Away with 10 parts demineralized water. Supposedly works best if the boat is wet. After using, rinse the boat and dry with towels. Also recommended to use a hull cleaner and wax after.
- CLR and or Kaboom
- Iso Fiberglass Reconditioner
Let us know what has worked best on your boat and/or PWC. Everyone using boat/PWC storage in Needles, CA. would really appreciate your input!
